That needs a detail

Its a cement truck, would need it everyday.

Is that an auto?

No thanks. What’s the reason for this disassembly?
Also, looking at that gearbox (and what appears to be a lack of clutch pedal) , is that an automatic?

Oh yeah. Man, that and tiling/painting/drywalling. I wouldn’t do those jobs for $1o0K a year. Not worth being permanently dirty.

yes automatic transmission just like a delta 88, I’m installing mul tipl e cameras, sensors, hooked to an acce lerometer thingy, that send the boss an email every time there’s a pothole.

It is, stick is dying in class 8 trucks too.

Painting and drywalling aren’t that bad — modern
paints clean up easily with water unless you go with some specialized formulations, same for
drywall compound. Portland cement, though? That shit gets into the nostrils and stays there for days wreaking havoc 'cause it's so caustic.

Really? What’s the purpose of that? Is this to quantify wear and tear on suspension components?

That’s true, I guess latex paint isn’t so bad. We just painted our place and our hands cleaned up OK.

Kinda surprised. All of the peterbilts we had when I was at SLB were stick.

Brings back memories of installing E-logs in all the trucks in our terminal fleet. We had Macks instead of Petes, though. Our drivers were SOOOOOOOOO pissed. I was like, don't look at me, I'm just doing my job. Blame corporate.

Mechanic too especially in winter time.

We had a driver torch an Eaton-Fuller 13 speed because he literally never touched the clutch. If it didn't want to go in gear, he'd just grind it until it did. He didn't last long at the company.

That I wouldn’t mind so much. It doesn’t get too cold here or salty.

It’s more like if the driver is hit or hits something, there’s video of two hands on the wheel and seatbelt done up etc.

The 2 dirtiest jobs I've ever had is muffler shop mechanic and machining castings. The muffler shop wasn't bad until the winter hit. Black snow dripping on you all day. Ugh

e-log is a component of this setup, I’m often not a popular guy on jobsites, but I’ve been in the angry trucker business for years, I put in over 700 breathalysers in vehicles (even less popular) and can make the radio turn off and the horn honk triggered by farts (if I really felt like it). That e i ther gets a chuckle or scares the hell out them.

Never lose sight of how hard these guys toil .
I’m still not sure why Elon Musk wants to put them out of work, but it makes me respect Tesla even less.

I got stuck doing them all because I was the youngest guy at our terminal and none of the boomers I worked with
understood that “computer crap”. Eh, fine by me. I’ll chill out here in the air conditioned cab while you old salts sweat
out in the heat changing shoes and drums and wheel bearings and shit.
